Entering the 2026 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards (NZCPA) for the first time was an entirely new experience for the team at BCG CONSTRUCTION. While we understood the awards were delivered by the Registered Master Builders, we had little insight into the level of detail, coordination, and documentation required to prepare a submission. Despite the unknowns, we embraced the challenge – approaching the process in the same way we approach every project: collaboratively, professionally, and with a commitment to excellence and certainty from start to finish.
What began as a first-time awards submission quickly became something far more meaningful. It became an opportunity to reflect on the strength of the partnerships, systems, people, and processes behind the Ashby Grove development, and to showcase the standard of delivery BCG strives to achieve across every project. That journey culminated in BCG CONSTRUCTION proudly receiving a GOLD Award at the 2026 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards – a significant achievement recognising excellence in collaboration, innovation, leadership, and project delivery.
The NZCPA are widely regarded as one of New Zealand’s most respected construction awards programmes because they celebrate something larger than the finished build itself: the collective success of the entire project team. Unlike many industry awards that focus on project scale or budget, the NZCPA recognises the partnerships, coordination, and shared commitment required to deliver outstanding outcomes across every level of a project.
For BCG, this made the award particularly meaningful.
Receiving GOLD was not simply recognition of a completed development – it was recognition of the people, relationships, systems, and collaborative processes that made the outcome possible. It reflects BCG’s unwavering commitment to delivering projects with certainty; certainty in programme, certainty in quality, certainty in communication, and certainty in execution.
The award-winning Ashby Grove development presented a number of complexities from the outset, requiring a highly coordinated and collaborative approach across design, engineering, construction, procurement, and delivery. Through early contractor involvement, integrated design-build methodology, and close collaboration with GOODHOUSE and the wider consultant team, BCG successfully transformed challenges into opportunities, delivering a refined, high-performing residential outcome.
What ultimately distinguished the project was not only the quality of the finished homes, but the way the project was delivered.
The judges recognised the strength of collaboration between BCG CONSTRUCTION, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders, alongside the team’s ability to maintain exceptional standards of quality, programme management, cost control, and innovation throughout delivery.
Key to the project’s success was BCG’s integrated approach. By combining in-house architectural and interior design expertise with construction leadership, the team was able to streamline communication, resolve challenges efficiently, and maintain alignment between design vision and construction execution from beginning to end.
Innovation also played a significant role in the project’s success. From proactive value engineering and advanced project management systems through to future-focused smart home integration and EV-ready infrastructure, the development demonstrated a commitment to delivering homes designed not only for today, but for the future.
Equally important was the project culture itself – one built on transparency, accountability, and shared ownership. Consultants, contractors, suppliers, and clients worked collectively toward a common goal, creating an environment where communication, trust, and problem-solving drove decision-making at every stage.
The result was a premium development delivered on programme, within budget, and exceptionally well received by both the market and industry professionals. The market response validated the project’s success. In challenging economic conditions, the development sold down within three months – significantly outperforming comparable projects in the area and reinforcing the strength of the design, positioning, and execution.
For BCG CONSTRUCTION, the GOLD Award reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering high-end design-build projects defined by excellence, collaboration, innovation, and certainty. More importantly, it acknowledges the dedication, expertise, and shared commitment of every individual and organisation involved in bringing the project to life.
This achievement stands as a reflection of what can be accomplished when an entire team is aligned by a shared vision and commitment to quality.
At BCG, we believe the best projects are built together and that, together, we can make a meaningful difference – and the 2026 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards GOLD Award is a proud recognition of exactly that.
Build your legacy with BCG.
